  1. Cherie–Thanks so much for that article. Sure, pigeons are viewed as common, and thus a pest; but you gave us some added insight for sure. The photo itself is very special! (Do you ever sell large reprints of your photos?)

    One of my most amazing Yucatan experiences was when I took some food over to the pigeon populated area around the Itzimná church. As I threw the food onto the ground, a whole flood of pigeons flew down from the top of the church and encircled me, flapping around my whole body, enclosing me in a whirlwind of pigeons! I’ve tried many times to recreate this experience, but cannot. There was no hostility from the birds, just perhaps a mutual thrill.
